Chapter 45. Serialism

D. Analysis process

5. The piano part begins I 0 in measure 9, over-lapping the first three pitches with the last three pitches of RI 0, and ending on the same pitch as I 0 (B) in the voice.

The voice has just ended one row form, and it is likely that a new row form is about to begin in measure 11. Since the voice had a complete row form before (m. 3-10), it makes sense to to assume the same thing happens again. Likewise, the piano presented three tone rows in the same place before (m. 4-10), so it is likely the same thing might happen starting in measure 11. Go to next page for the answer.
